4. Semantic Map: Our word

Imagen
Semantic Map: My word In this class we talked about the semantic maps or also called graphic organizers.   So me of the purposes of creating a map is to visualize the displayed meaning-based connection between a word or phrases; it's a set of related words or concepts.  Semantic maps help students especially struggling students and those with disabilities to identify, understand and recall the meanings of words they read in the text. Our teacher asked us to create a semantic map with the word that he gave us on the flash card.  I will be leaving you my Semantic Map of my word on the following picture:

Activity # This was an activity that we worked in class. Our teacher gave each one of my classmates a flash card with a different word. We had to investigate the definition and give an example.  Our teacher told us that, this is an activity that helps us, because at the end we had to presented our word to our classmates. He told us it's necessary, it's a way of learning new words and having much bigger vocabulary. The word that I got was... B  E  N  D Meaning : (Verb)   To bend is to cause something to curve without breaking. Example : High winds had caused the trunk of these trees to bend or curve. Some of my classmates were able to participate and present their words. We weren't able to to finish this activity but I was able to learn two or three words, that I didn't have no idea.  In the following pictures I will show you the notes I took, and the five words that five of my classmates who were able to present.

Basic Ideas in Semantic This was an activity in our the first period on Tuesday morning, waiting for the rest of our classmates to arrive. Our teacher gave us four words, telling us to represent each one with a picture, depending on what our mind thought it meant. The words were, Rose ,   Tree , Cat  and Bank .  We shared our ideas out loud, knowing what our other classmates thought they meant. Some of my classmates drew "a banco" for Bank . Our teacher told us that this activity was to see everyone perspective of each word, telling us the semantic is the study of the meaning of each word.  In the following pictures I will show you my pictures I drew for the meaning of each word.
